Description
Brookings Municipal Utilities is now accepting applications for full-time temporary electrical apprentice line workers. 

In this position, you will have the opportunity to work side-by-side with experienced journeymen while working to construct and maintain electric utility lines. This is a great opportunity to gain experience in the electrical field!

A typical work day at BMU may include any of the following:

  1. Installing and maintaining underground distribution system

    (BMU has a 95% underground distribution system)

  2. Installing and maintaining street light poles heads and wire.

  3. Building and maintaining distribution substations.

  4. Maintaining work equipment.

  5. Fault locating and repair of conductors.

      6.  Operation of construction equipment.

Education and/or Experience:

  1. High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  2. Graduation from vocational/technical school in power line studies preferred.
  3. Employee must possess knowledge of electrical systems, electrical theory and the operation of equipment used in repairing or building electric power systems.


Time Frame:  May- November (or when employee reaches 1,000 hours)

Wage:  $17.10/hr
